DISPLACED, UPROOTED AND ABANDONED

Neoliberal economic policies have undoubtedly sharpened and exacerbated the perceptions among India's subalterns; their livelihoods, lifestyles and identities are under further threat. The state is setting up mega projects such as big dams, steel plants, mining projects etc. which in turn deprives tribals in particular and women as well as children in general of their rights over land, home, access to resources. Though these threats were on the lesser scale earlier, they have now been intensified in a globalising era.
