ARSENIC CONTAMINATION IN GROUNDWATER KILLING VILLAGERS IN BALLIA


Ekawana Rajpur is a village in Belhari administrative block, along the banks of Ganga and 16 kilometres from Ballia town in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, where villagers suffer from afflictions such as itchy skin lesions, changes in skin colours, hardening and thickening of skins into nodules. These afflictions are due to arsenic contamination of their drinking water sources.
